Zhongshan Road (中山路)

Zhongshan Road (中山路, Zhōngshān Lù) is Xiamen's main pedestrian shopping street, and the best place to experience Minnan street food culture. The street is lined with beautiful arcade-style buildings (骑楼, qílóu) that reflect Xiamen's colonial history.

What to See & Eat

Oyster Omelette (海蛎煎, hǎilì jiān) — The signature Xiamen dish. Fresh oysters fried with egg, sweet potato starch, and cilantro. Multiple stalls compete for the best recipe — try a few and decide for yourself.

Satay Noodles (沙茶面, shāchá miàn) — Peanut-based curry broth with noodles, topped with various meats and seafood. Every shop has its own secret recipe.

Spring Rolls (春卷, chūnjuǎn) — Xiamen-style, filled with julienned vegetables and meat, fried until crispy. Perfect as a snack while walking.

Minnan Architecture — The arcade buildings (骑楼) are photogenic, especially at night when they're lit up.
