Thousand Buddha Mountain (千佛山) rises 285 meters above Jinan and is covered with over 300 Buddha carvings dating to the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD). The Daming Temple at the summit has incense-filled halls and city views.
On a clear day, you can see across the entire city toward Mount Tai. The carvings range from small figures to a 10-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha carved into the cliff face.
Bus 2, 48, 85 to Thousand Buddha Mountain station. South gate is the main entrance.
Practical tips
- Start early to avoid crowds. The east gate is less busy than the south gate.
