Daming Lake (大明湖) is a large natural lake in the heart of Jinan, mentioned in the classic novel Romance of the Sui and Tang. Fed by Jinan's springs, the water stays clear and fresh year-round.
Boat rides cost ¥30-50 ($4-7) per person for 30-60 minutes. A 5-kilometer path circles the lake through willow groves and lotus fields. The area also contains the Huyu Temple and the Iron Stronghold.
Metro Line 2 to Beimenwai station. Walking distance from Baotu Spring.
Practical tips
- Take a boat ride at sunset for the best views. The south gate area has the best photo opportunities.
