The Songhua River (松花江, Sōnghuā Jiāng) is the lifeblood of Harbin — and in winter, it becomes the city's greatest playground when it freezes solid under temperatures of -30C.

The Frozen River — From December to March, the river freezes into a vast white plain thick enough to drive on. Walk across for incredible views of the city skyline.
