Haikou Volcanic Geopark (火山口地质公园) features volcanic craters formed 10,000 years ago, along with lava tunnels and tropical forest. The main crater is 130 meters deep with a lake at the bottom.
What to See
Crater rim trail - Walk around the rim of the main crater for panoramic views. Lava tunnels - Underground tunnels formed by flowing lava. Tropical forest - Lush vegetation growing on volcanic soil.
Bus 1, 6, or tourist bus from city center. ¥60 ($8.40).
Practical tips
- The crater rim trail offers the best views. Bring water - it gets hot on the exposed sections.
