East Lake (东湖)

East Lake (东湖, Dōng Hú) is China's largest urban lake — 33 square kilometers of water surrounded by gardens, temples, and cherry groves. It's Wuhan's green lung and a perfect escape from the city.

What to See

The Lakeside Path — A 100km cycling and walking path around the lake. The path winds through gardens, past temples, and along the water.

Cherry Blossom Garden — A garden with over 10,000 cherry trees — more than Wuhan University. The blossoms in spring are spectacular.

Moshan Hill (磨山) — A hill on the lake's eastern shore with botanical gardens, a cherry grove, and panoramic views.

The Water — The lake is vast and peaceful — a perfect contrast to the busy city. Boat rides are available in summer.
