Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park (亚龙湾热带天堂森林公园, Yàlóngwān Rèdài Tiāntáng Sēnlín Gōngyuán) is the rainforest draped over the ridges above Yalong Bay — a 1,506-hectare mountain park where "If You Are the One 2" (非诚勿扰2) was filmed and where the bay's best panoramas hide. It is the perfect antidote to beach time: cooler air, 1,500+ tropical plant species, and views from 450 meters.
Two paid experiences dominate. The Full-Sea-View Glass Walkway (全海景玻璃栈道) — ¥98 ($14) — runs 400 m of transparent decking around the natural Maitreya stone Buddha at the summit, staring down through the canopy at Yalong Bay's blue below. The Over-the-River Dragon Bridge (过江龙索桥), ¥20 ($3), is the 168 m rope bridge made famous by the film, swaying 40 m above the ravine. Both cost extra on top of entry.
The entry ticket — ¥158 ($22) peak season (Oct–Apr), ¥140 ($20) low season (May–Sep) — always includes the round-trip shuttle bus, which you will want: the park spans several peaks. Shuttle to the summit, work the walkway and Canghai Tower (沧海楼) viewpoint, then ride down to Orchid Valley (兰花谷), the park's flower-filled hiking pocket.
Three to five hours covers it; arrive before 9:00 to beat tour groups and catch soft light. Wear grippy sneakers, mosquito repellent and sunscreen, and bring water — ¥15 ($2) a bottle at the summit. From Yalong Bay hotels a taxi takes 10 minutes (¥10-15 / $1.50-2); from downtown Sanya, 35 minutes (¥60-80 / $8-11) or buses 15/24/25/27.
Practical tips
- Buy tickets online in advance (official WeChat mini-program or Ctrip) — online prices are slightly cheaper and you skip on-site queues, which get long on weekends and Chinese holidays. Bring your passport.
- Budget for extras: the ¥98 ($14) glass walkway and ¥20 ($3) Dragon Bridge are separately ticketed. A ~¥288 ($40) combo covering entry, shuttle, bridge, and walkway is better value if you'll do both.
- Sneakers are non-negotiable — this park is hundreds of stone steps, not flat paths. No drones, no selfie sticks on the high-altitude platforms, no strollers (stairs everywhere).
- Best light and shortest queues are before 9:00 or after 16:00; mid-day lines at the glass walkway can top an hour. Go on a weekday and avoid public holidays.
- The Rainforest Drift water coaster (雨林飞漂, ¥138/$19) is a fun downhill exit, but it shuts for maintenance at times — check current status before planning around it. The last shuttle down leaves ~17:30.
