Green Lake Park (翠湖, Cuì Hú) is Kunming's most beloved park — a serene oasis in the heart of the city where willow trees, pavilions, and thousands of red-billed gulls create a peaceful retreat.

What to See

The Lake — A small, elegant lake divided into four sections by causeways. Lotus flowers bloom in summer, and gulls gather in winter.

Red-Billed Gulls — Every winter (November-March), thousands of red-billed gulls migrate from Siberia. Bring bread and feed them — they'll eat from your hand.

Willow Causeways — Stone causeways lined with ancient willow trees. The willows trail their branches in the water — a classic Chinese garden scene.

Teahouses — Several teahouses on the lake's edge. Sit on a terrace, drink Yunnan tea, and watch the gulls.
