Xidi Village (西递, Xīdì) is a 1,000-year-old village that, along with nearby Hongcun, forms a UNESCO World Heritage Site of traditional Hui-style architecture.
What to See
The Stone Streets — Narrow stone-paved alleys wind through the village, lined with white-walled houses. The streets are atmospheric and photogenic.
Hui-Style Houses — Over 120 well-preserved houses in traditional Hui style — white walls, black tiles, and ornate wooden carvings above the doorways.
The Ancestral Hall — The Hu family ancestral hall is the largest building — a grand space with carved wooden beams and painted ceilings.
The Views — The village is surrounded by rice paddies and mountains. The view from the hilltop above the village is spectacular.
