The Mountain Resort (避暑山庄) is the largest imperial garden in the world, covering 560 hectares - larger than the Forbidden City. Built by Emperor Kangxi in 1703, it served as the summer residence for Qing Dynasty emperors.
What to See
Palace area - Wooden buildings where emperors conducted state affairs.
Lake area - Artificial lakes with islands, bridges, and boat rides.
Forest area - A vast northern forest section with mountains and wildlife.

Practical tips
- Rent a boat on the lake for the best experience. The northern forest section is cooler and less crowded.
