What to See

Aiwan Pavilion (爱晚亭) — One of China's Four Great Pavilions — surrounded by maple trees that turn brilliant red in autumn. The pavilion is most beautiful in November.

Yuelu Academy (岳麓书院) — One of China's four great ancient academies — a 1,000-year-old university that still operates today. The campus is a blend of ancient and modern.

The Hiking Trails — Well-maintained trails wind through the forest to the summit. The trail from Aiwan Pavilion to the top takes about 2 hours.

The View — The summit offers panoramic views of Changsha, the Xiang River, and Orange Island. The sunset view is spectacular.
